The Betty Bazar Foundation
The Grohl Family Award

Betty Bazar served as President and CEO of Sensor Systems since 1965. Under her guidance, the company thrived, becoming a global force in the aviation industry. Her visionary leadership and determination propelled the company to new heights, during an era when women were not commonly manufacturing leaders.

Betty’s legacy extends beyond business; her kindness, humility, and tenacity endeared her to all. In 2016, Betty founded the Mary E. Bazar-Robin Foundation (now known as The Betty Bazar Foundation). Initially focusing on aviation interests, Betty expanded her philanthropic efforts to the healthcare community at the suggestion of her daughter, Paula, a pediatric nurse. Following Betty’s death in 2021, Sensor Systems was sold and the substantial proceeds from the sale were funneled directly into her Foundation.

Rich Fresh
Walking in My Shoes Award

Patrick Henry Jr., known to the world as Fresh, did not arrive at the heights of luxury fashion through privilege, connection, or formal training. He arrived through survival. Before the celebrity clientele, before the Hollywood fittings, before his work graced the bodies of the most recognized names on the planet - there was addiction. There was homelessness. There was a darkness so complete that the distance between where he stood and where he now stands seems, by any conventional measure, impossible.

A self-taught master tailor and designer, Fresh built Richfresh from nothing into one of the most distinctive luxury menswear houses in the world, dressing icons including Barack Obama, The Weeknd, Steph Curry, Justin Bieber, Kevin Hart, and John Legend - among many others. His work has been celebrated by Forbes, Robb Report, The Hollywood Reporter, and EBONY. His clientele is a who's-who of culture. His origin story is something far more rare: it is real. The LA Mission understands that truth better than most. And tonight, in honoring Fresh, they are not simply recognizing a fashion designer. They are recognizing what becomes possible when a person who has lost everything - shelter, sobriety, hope itself - chooses, against all reasonable odds, to build something beautiful instead.

Pierre-André Senizergues
Walking in My Shoes Award

Pierre-André Senizergues is an entrepreneur, former professional skateboarder and world champion, and longtime supporter of the Los Angeles Mission. Born and raised in France, Pierre-André moved to California in 1985 to pursue his dream of professional skateboarding. Without a permanent home, he stayed on friends’ couches and eventually lived out of his car; an experience that gave him a personal understanding of the vulnerability, loneliness and loss of dignity that can come with not having a secure place to call home.

Pierre-André went on to found Sole Technology and build some of skateboarding’s most influential brands including Etnies, éS, Emerica, Sheep, ThirtyTwo and Altamont. Today, he remains active in the brands and entrepreneurial ventures he created. For more than two decades, Pierre-André and etnies have supported the Los Angeles Mission, donating more than 40,000 pairs of shoes to people experiencing homelessness. Through that relationship, he has been equally inspired by the generations of people who have devoted themselves to serving Los Angeles with compassion, dignity and hope.
